The castle of Pomino and the Frescobaldi estates are points of interest in this little-known area, but we focus particularly on the new wine makers who create noteworthy wines in their small artisanal wineries. Here, a new generation is turning the slowly ripening grapes of this more mountainous and cooler region into high-quality wines, changing the image of the Chianti Rufina wine in the world.

11:30 Visit to the medieval, stone village of Pelago

15:00 Guided visit to Cerreto Libri bio-dynamic winery, oil and wine tasting.
16:30 Guided visit to the Lavacchio winery and wine tasting

The Selvapiana winery is our first stop on our tour through the Rufina. Selvapiana is a typical Tuscan “fattoria” with a long and impressive history, including the fact that it was a summer residence for the Florentine bishops for many years.
Purchased in 1827 by Michele Giuntini Selvapiana, the estate now covers an area of 240 hectares, of which 45 are devoted to vineyards and 31 to olives. Five generations of the Giuntini family have now lived on the estate.
The work of the current owner, Francesco Giuntini Antinori, has been to restore the prestige that Chianti Rufina enjoyed up until 1716, the year of the famous proclamation of Cosimo III de\'Medici, when the Pomino denomination was recognized as being one of the most important in Tuscany. Your are invited to visit the estate, followed by a wine tasting.
After a visit of the charming medieval stone village Pelago, your delicious Tuscan lunch will be waiting for you at the Osteria La Scioa!
In the afternoon, we will be delighted to introduce you to two of the wineries that are changing the image of the Chianti Rufina wine in the world. The Cerreto Libri and the Lavacchio estates are dedicated to sustainable agriculture, care of the earth, and products that reflect both dedicated artisanship and the simple goodness of the Tuscan earth. You will have the opportunity to form your own opinion by tasting their high-quality wines and olive oil.
Your day in the Rufina will end with a lovely drive back to your location in Florence.
